You know how we like to flip it and reverse it around here sometimes! This time, we’ve taken the same color scheme from our original custom Cordsmith and flipped it on our brand new mini version: Black handle, Mint sheep.
But hey, what’s mini about this Cordsmith? While it has the same size handle and utilizes the same seamless wrapping motion, the needles are smaller and closer together, making it ideal for lighter-weight yarns. Just look at the difference in the last photo when using the same yarn with the Mini and Original – you’ll notice the Mini creates a tighter, sturdier cord, akin to a bulky-weight yarn.
Using Dyed in the Wool, our cord using the Mini Cordsmith measured approximately 1/8″ in diameter and the cord using the Original was approximately 1/4″.
What is a Cordsmith? Ever needed to make an i-cord, but you just couldn’t bring yourself to knit and slide those fiddly little stitches over and over again? It seems like it should be easy, but it’s just SO annoying. The anxiety builds and the procrastination begins. Stop. Just stop right there. Because our good friend and incredible sample knitter, Autumn Eden-Goodman, has created the tool to solve all of your i-cord woes.
The Cordsmith is a simple tool that allows you to create a row of i-cord with a single movement, replacing three knit stitches and the time it takes to slide your stitches back to your working needle again. The handle is made from 3D printed plastic with three stainless steel latch needles.
